My brother's wife earns more than him, but then both have good careers, 2 kids, and a lovely lifestyle. Back in the days when women wore pinnies all day, it was often the case that the wife stuck with her man for the sake of keeping her afloat. Perhaps a reason why more marriages break up these days; because women are indeed more independent.
