The life and times of a happy go lucky blogger in London
#blogladesh day 1 – the journey
Categories: blogging mums

We flew out from Heathrow yesterday and made a short stop over at Dohar – the heat was immense when we got off the plane. As we prepared for the transfer, the countdown was on, we were just another six hours or so from arriving in Dhaka. And I nearly left my passport at security…

This is the aiport at Dohar.

The mood on this second plane was entirely different, there were very few women so we stood out like the proverbial sore thumbs. As passengers loaded luggage into the overhead storage, it was impossible not to notice the packages, many wrapped up in bungy rope – a big change from the designer wheelie bags on the earlier leg. Landing at 5am, we were lucky enough to see sunrise during our descent and we spent ages going through passport control. I had filled in the wrong side of the disembarkment form and was swaying a little as I’d not slept on the journey. We were collected from the airport by Liz Scarff and wended our way to the car park. Small children were begging and tapping on the windows of the car we were in and we drank in the sights and sounds of the city as we went to our hotel. The city swarms with traffic including these packed buses.

And lots of street life.

We arrived at the hotel and had a few hours sleep.
More to follow.
