I’m joining the Google Hangout with Caitlin Moran at Mumsnet Blogfest, come along
Categories: blogging, blogging mums

This Saturday, 10 November, Mumsnet is heading to Altitude on Millbank and joining the mummy blogging conference throng with a new event; BlogFest, to celebrate all there is to love about blogging and social media in the company of some of the most talented writers and bloggers around, including keynote speakers Caitlin Moran and Miriam González Durántez.

For procrastinating fickle types like me it’s a bit of a shame that tickets have long sold out as it looks like a great day and I would have liked to pop along to hear the speakers and also see a few friendly faces.

However, all is not lost and I’m quite chuffed as I’m one of the lucky three or four joining the Google Hangout with one of my favourite writers and tweeters, the one and only Caitlin Moran, via a Google Hangout video link.  Which means that I can stay in my pyjamas but still be there, if only virtually…

If you want to see how it all works, just pop along to the link at 5.30pm on Saturday, I’m sure it will be lots of fun.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Caitlin’s unique no holds-barred-voice on twitter, her glittering career and her eloquent use of savage prose in her columns and books, you might want to read the Mumsnet biog here…

Caitlin Moran’s 2010 manifesto, How to be a Woman, was a sweary, ranty and above all hysterically funny tour de force. It reclaimed the word ‘feminism’ and thrust it thrillingly back into the centre of women’s lives. “Do you have a vagina?” she wrote. “Do you want to be in charge of it? Congratulations! You’re a feminist.”

She has approximately 1 billion followers on Twitter, where everyone wants her as their best friend; and her excellent new book Moranthology is out now.

There’s a great line up of speakers for all the sessions, and quite a few familiar faces too, here they are and good luck to them all on Saturday…
