Review: Cleaning Gift Vouchers
Categories: blogging mums

Working parents value nothing more than extra time which is why I look at everything in terms of a basic formula;

£s Spent v Time reclaimed

Simple as it is, it makes decision making really easy and on that basis, taxis and internet shopping come up tops, and of course, having a cleaner is a no brainer; but while shopping and cabs are pretty straight forward, finding a good cleaning service in London is little short of a nightmare.

Not all cleaners are bad. I’ve had great cleaners but they tend to move on quite quickly, my favourite cleaner moved back to Poland and I’ve never found a good replacement for her. There have also been awful cleaners; expensive jewelry has ended up shredded in my Dyson Monster, favourite items of clothing shrunk in the washing machine, treasured crockery broken, and so on. So when it comes to choosing a cleaner, it’s usually a matter of changing the formula to £s Spent v £s Lost to damage v Time reclaimed. With that trade off in mind, there is no denying that a clean, tidy house with freshly changed bed linen, emptied recycle bins and a huge bag of ironing pressed and folded wins every time.

Last week I tried out a new London service Cleaning Gift Vouchers which claims to give the gift of time while leaving your house sparkling.

If you’ve ever researched a cleaner online (I’ve done this laboriously over the years and speak from experience), you’ll often find that local companies and franchises will have contact forms but they seem to go ignored. London cleaners also command varying rates of anything up to £20 per hour and complicated subscriptions where you pay a membership fee and then leave cash for the cleaner. It’s too much to deal with which is why a simple voucher makes life easy.

All you need to do is visit Cleaning Gift Vouchers and choose a package. As you can see, the site is pretty straight forward and there are a few options for cleaning services as well.

You can choose a variety of services:

  • Home and Domestic Cleaning Services
  • End of Tenancy Cleaning Services (Move-in/Move-out)
  • Spring Cleaning and Professional Cleaning Services
  • Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Services
  • Gardening
  • Rubbish Removal
  • Window Cleaning
  • Oven Cleaning

I chose the three hour clean which is £39 voucher, probably more than a regular cleaner would cost but much cheaper than a one off order so the pricing is fair.

The ordering process is simple and voucher based.  You can give the voucher as a gift or keep it for yourself (which for review purposes is what I did).   Vouchers can be printed off, delivered by email or even gold old fashioned snail mail.  I received an email confirmation very quickly which was surprising compared to my previous experience.

The next day I got a follow up call to book in the cleaner and they were happy to fulfil my day and time, which is also unusual for most cleaning companies. The cleaner duly arrived and after three hours, she had done everything that was asked and even offered to empty the hoover (that’s a first). I also received a call from customer service to ask me how the cleaning went, how I would rate it and would I recommend it to my friends.

I was really pleased with the service from the ease of booking, to the cleaning and the aftercare and would definitely recommend it.  Any skepticism about special treatment for bloggers reviewing the service was dispelled when I explained to them that I would be doing an online review of the service; they had no idea that I had booked the service for review purposes.

The service is available in London and most of the home counties, and even Australia…
