Stargazer that I am, my entry for this week’s Gallery over at Sticky Fingers blog is looking towards the future with a touch of nostalgia.
Always one for an oxymoron, I’m posting this photo which not only makes me feel very reminiscent of my first year or so of blogging but also very optimistic for the future and all the great things that my beautiful daughter has to look forward to
and crikey, where’s the time gone, she looks so young!
As we sit mooching over the recession, or walking past empty shops on high streets or mourning the demise of the welfare state, it’s pretty easy to be downcast but that’s because we’ve been here a long time already. Imagine if you were 10 or 12 again and how differently you would see the world – days lasted forever didn’t they?
So, young as she is – you are looking at the future, as we all do when we look at our children which is why this photo is inspirational to me. This will be the first generation who will be able to book a flight to space, wear invisibility cloaks and who knows what other wonders await.
This photo is about three or four years old now but it’s still one of my favourite quirky images I captured when out and about in the West End. We were in the coffee shop in Waterstone’s on Piccadilly having hot chocolate and then I noticed an empty chair, heard a giggle and spotted this little minx grinning like a Cheshire cat through the hole in the chair. Who can resist that cheeky grin? I’m sure she’s going to be a bit of a heart breaker.
A massive thanks to Tara as well for giving the Gallery theme over to women and supporting the #banknotes campaign. Funnily enough, this photo would look great on a tenner!
